Media release. Vancouver, September 28, 2010. For immediate release. From October 20 to 23, 2010, Théâtre la Seizième presents Une maison face au nord (in French), a warm, thoughtful play and deeply human family story blended with larger societal issues. Henri's peaceful existence in rural Quebec comes to a halt after a series of unexpected events. He finds himself witnessing the life and legacy that he created and the country of his dreams inexorably losing their sense and future. Soon, Henry has no choice but to reconsider his own beliefs and adjust to this new reality. Is it too late to open up after all these years?

Eye Weekly wrote of this comedy of manners that it “is destined to become a classic of Canadian drama. It (…) accomplishes that magic trick of so many great plays of transforming the specific into the universal, the ordinary into the extraordinary. On the surface the play is a bittersweet comedy about a couple growing old together in Chicoutimi, while in fact it is play about the state of the province of Quebec in particular, the state of Canada in general and more (…). It helps that the cast and direction are flawless. Mignault is simply wonderful. (…)The setting may be rural Quebec, but the implications of Gaudreault’s play are universal and deserve the widest possible audience.”
